Pep Band with Northbrook

The MHS Pep Band performed at the Men's Basketball game this week, and joining the band were 20 members of the Northbrook Middle School band under the direction of Mr. James Younger.  7th and 8th grade students had a chance to have dinner, rehearse, and perform with the high school band.  We're excited for them to become Trojan Band members in the future!

Veterans Day Performance 2015

The MHS Band continued its long-standing tradition of honoring our nation's service members through its Veterans Day performances.  The band performed Mendota Veterans Day Ceremony in downtown Mendota, then provided music for the annual Veterans Day assembly held at MHS.

This year, students in Mr. Artman and Mr. Gehm's history classes researched the history behind some of our nation's most well-known patriotic music, such as the Star Spangled Banner, God Bless America, America the Beautiful, and more.  The MHS Band collaborated with the history classes and performed the music that was researched.  Congratulations to all of the MHS students who worked so hard on this important day, and thank you to our Veterans and Service Members.

ILMEA District 2 Jazz Festival

Congratulations to 4 MHS students who participated in yesterday's ILMEA District 2 Jazz Festival at Farmington Central Schools.  Tony Escatel and Geo Hermosillo both spent the day learning from Jim Stombres, a fantastic educator and retired band director from St. Charles North High School.  Sam Masini, member of the festival jazz chorus, worked with Michael Englehart from Millikin University.  Lucas Anderson performed with the top jazz band, under the direction of famous trumpet/flugel horn player Bob Lark from DePaul University.  Check out the photo below of Lucas playing with Dr. Lark!  Congrats to all of our hard-working MHS students!
